Prickly characters down on the farm.

Today saw the completion of our Cactus and Yukka garden.

We started by building planters out of rock, this time instead of on the ground they were on a wall.

We filled all the little gaps with small stones and....

Then filled them full of soil.  The soil by the way came from the chicken run area, as my old mum used to say, 'Waste not want not' a creed I try to follow whenever I can especially where soil is concerned as it is in such short supply on my farm, whereas stone as you can see is not, lol.

We then dug a small area up in front of the wall, Caleb was moving so fast the pick was a blur. Lol. photo DSC_0642_zpsajrmfhyy.jpg

The finished result.

I'm hoping that eventually when they have grown a little they will hide the balsa's aka water tanks which are behind the wall to the right of the picture.
