Since I first became a host on Workaway and HelpX I have had many wonderful volunteers staying under my roof and boy have I enjoyed their company. I won't single any one or couple out but suffice to say they have all been stars in their own way and I will be forever grateful to you all for what you have given me, your time, your friendship and of course the laughs.
Here are a few pics of some of the guys.
2013
Ceri (from Wales) boy could that girl swing a pick.
She was also a dab hand at using a Kangol we discovered.
Helping us to build a Keyhole Garden.
Karl, my Grandson.
Who helped his old Grandma no end throughout the whole of the summer with the myriad of projects I had lined up and who never complained once.
Though sometimes he did fall asleep in some weird and wonderful positions. (lol)
Thomas (from Brittany) he loved soil, lol (in joke).
Who became a whizz with the Strimmer
And who helped shift probably two or three tonne of rocks and stone from one end of my farm to the other.
So we could build a new wall, from scratch.
Morgan, (from England) the intrepid explorer.
Morgan helped with Forestry management, (he knows some cool stuff about knots by the way) as well as helped me repair at least half a dozen terrace walls during his stay.
Noble (from England).
Helped me pick Carobs
Krista (from England)
Helped pick both Carobs (Carobs were late last year) and Olives (which were early) so she had to be pretty adaptable about what we were doing each day, thanks for that Krista.
By the way, we hand pick all of our crops which for Krista was no mean feat as at the time she came to us, bless her, with an injured finger.
She also helped with the trimming of the trees.
You can just see one of my long handled saws in the above photo.
Tanner (from the US).
And...
Molly (from the US)
Helped pick Carobs, Olives, trim back the Olive trees,
Collect firewood
Tanner and his fierce woodsman face.
Chop it.
Stack it.
Unfortunately it is one of those tasks you have to do again and again.
And to top it all off they built a stairway so I can get down from the house easier and safely to the terrace below.
Molly by the way is modelling a rather fetching little number a friend of mine sent over from Canada for me, bright isn't it!
And last but not least, Christopher, our son, who has been here from the start of our journey. Lift that bale or should I say log and tote that chainsaw on a stick son!
Thank you to each and everyone of you guys, 2013 would not have been the same without you.
Love you all to bits.
