We do hope you will enjoy reading it.
Of course we didn't always live with these humans, no, for over 6 years we lived with another family in the next village along. Sadly they had to return to England and even though they wanted us to go with them we decided that we didn't much fancy the horrid weather they have over there, so we had to say our goodbyes and move on to pastures new as they say. After a lot of looking around we found a family who seemed just right for us, thing is they keep talking about training, but honestly, they aren't badly behaved at all. They feed us, clean up our poop and give us cuddles etc so personally we think they don't need much doing with them, but we will see, maybe there is room for improvement.
But back to our coming to live here, well, the first we knew the day had arrived was when a trailer arrived and our old humans started to try and get us to go in it. Well naturally being donkeys we were not too happy with that idea, we rather hoped it'd be a limousine or at least a Race Horse Transporter that picked us up, but nope, it was a trailer, so we registered our disgust by refusing to go inside.
Saying that we decided to have a little fun with our humans and tempted them with promises of our going in, first we stood one foot on the ramp, then moved it back, then we put the other foot on it and so on. This game was such fun it kept us amused for almost an hour I can tell you. Though one of our new humans seemed a little worn out with our game pretty early on, bah, no staying power.
Unfortunately she soon rallied as did the others and before we knew it they had me (Kiko) in the box. I maintain it was not my fault as they tricked me, they used Carobs to make my feet move. I kept telling them to stay put, but they didn't listen and before I knew it I was in the box. My defence is I am a sucker for anything sweet.
As well as a haynet full of nice sweet oat straw.
Dad (Mimo) decided to show me and my feet how to avoid being put into the trailer and for what seemed forever he managed to stand his ground.
But eventually even his feet betrayed him and before he knew it he was stood at the edge of the ramp.
And as if by magic, he joined me in the box and off we went.
After a rather exciting ride we arrived at our new home.
Which we set about exploring straight away.
We found lots of really nice yummy grass to eat and lots of trees to play around under. So we decided it was acceptable and our old mum said her goodbyes and we settled in whilst our new humans set to work trying to finish off our stable.
Apparently they had really tried hard to get it done before we arrived, but because of bad weather the work had been held up.
That really is snow on the mountains behind our new home, brrr, we were so glad we didn't move over the week before, heeehaaaw.
But back to the building news, we of course have been keeping a close eye on what they have been doing, though at first we had only pictures to look at to see how things began. First they laid something called foundations.
Looks like a big square in the soil to us, but hey, if our humans say they are foundations, we will believe them. They then started to build the walls on top of them. Now strange as it may seem they decided to build our new home out of sausages. Well that is what they look like to us. Our humans kept on saying something about eco building, but like we have said, they look like sausages to us so that my dear friends is what we have chosen to call them because to us, that is what they are.
Apparently the brown dog in the photo has been overseeing the construction so we know who to blame if it isn't tip top, only kidding Toby, we are sure it is going to be the best eco donkey shelter ever built.
On the whole we are pretty excited by it all, however, being sensible donkeys we are maintaining a cool demeanour just to keep our new humans guessing. Well it doesn't pay or so Dad (Mimo) has said to go all gushy over something from second one, if you do, you have nothing in reserve with which to treat your humans with. Save of course cuddles. Then his reserve goes flying, he is such a sucker for them. Heeehaaaaaw.
