Donkey Diaries 28th May 2015. The Great Escape.

I am really very happy here, I was just telling Dad (Mimo) this the other day, however, sometimes the naughty boy in me gets a little carried away and I do something that makes my humans wonder.

The naughtiness was of course my breaking down the fence to our paddock and going off on an adventure.  Of course Dad came along to make sure I was safe which meant we both were out of our paddock one early misty morning much to the horror of our humans.

We didn't go far, first we checked out our old paddock, there was some grazing to be had but I reckoned the grass would be greener the further we went from our home, so we wandered on down to the neighbours land, pah, there was no food there at all.  Dad said he sprays the weeds so that they die which of course means there is no food for two escaped donkeys to eat.  This left me in something of a quandary, (don't you just love that word, quandary, I do anyhow) what to do.  Well we wandered around for a bit, took in the sights and found zero to eat on the other neighbours land. Which left us wondering if we should try going down the road to see if the pickings got any better the closer we got to the village or maybe head up the road into the mountains.
Luckily before we had to make that decision we saw one of the humans who had come to stay with our family out for an early morning run, so being the polite donkey that I am I went over to ask her if she knew where we might find some food as we were starving by now. (Dad says we have never been starving in our lives, but I tell you my tummy was rumbling and grumbling something terrible).
Well you should have seen the look on her face, like she had just seen two donkeys out of their paddock.  Immediately she ran back to the house and shouted that we were out!
And all hell broke loose.  There were humans running around, in their pyjamas (which was very funny I can tell you) as if they were on fire.
Human mum grabbed our headcollars, but before she had to come and put them on, Dad said we had given them enough excitement for the day so he said we had to go on home.  So being amiable donkeys we wandered back to our paddock as if nothing was amiss. (love that word too).

Human mum and the others then walked around the whole of the paddock to see where the fence had been broken down.  She soon found it and much to my dismay repaired it.

Dad says we shouldn't do it again as it really upset human mum, pah, it was fun besides it made her make our paddock bigger so we had more food to eat, now that is what I call a result.
